Since the Renaissance, every work of art has worked on themes worthy of aesthetic expression, concepts of artistic value — posing new questions, comprehending new techniques, styles of painting and sculpture, new harmonies and consonances in music, mastering unusual gestures and habits, different genres and quality criteria. At the same time, the initiative to theoretically apply the concept of art to activities that lie completely outside the artistic field, within the framework of the aesthetics of the daily, was shown by philosophers like David Best, Wolfgang Welsh, and Lev Kreft, suggesting that sport be perceived as an art form. Feminist aestheticians have also advocated the inclusion in the field of aesthetics of senses other than the usual sight and hearing, which can also contribute to the creation of aesthetic experience — for example, taste (Carolyn Korsmeyer) and smell (Emily Bradley).
